Brooklyn Bridge Walking

(New York, NY)

We’ve recently added the Brooklyn Bridge Walking Tour, one of the 7 wonders of New York City, and it’s proven to be very popular of our New York Walking Tours.

Our tour is different from the others; we made our start time at 5pm. It’s not to hot at that hour, and you’ll get to see the Manhattan skyline during the sunset hour.

And to make this famous sightseeing experience even better, we’ve added great food from Grimaldi’s Pizzeria, a thin-crust beauty from a coal-fired brick oven. Plus, gourmet ice cream for dessert from the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory. So our tour is called the Brooklyn Bridge Sunset Food Tour.

The tour begins in Lower Manhattan as we pass historic City Hall and the Mayor’s Office in City Hall Park.

The walk across the Brooklyn Bridge takes only 25 minutes, but we’ll stop midway overlooking the East River, taking in the Statue of Liberty, Governor’s Island, and the Manhattan Bridge.

With boats cruising in the background, we’ll hear about the bridge’s illustrious beginnings over 127 years ago, and the history of the Roebling family, the bridge’s engineers.

As we approach Brooklyn we’ll see the beautiful newly opened Brooklyn Bridge Park, right on the waterfront, and the spot where we’ll be enjoying our pizza.

Close-by is the Fulton Ferry Landing, and notice the railing around the pier, words stamped into the metal offer an excerpt from a Walt Whitman poem, “Crossing Brooklyn Ferry.”

We’ll see historic buildings that were built for manufacturing and storage in the late 1800’s that today are used for residential living and were purchased as condos.

Tour finishes in Brooklyn, and options for returning to Manhattan are ferry, subway, or walking back will be shown.
